Headteacher’s welcome

“Children best learn in an emotionally secure environment; for learning to take place, including learning a second language as well as learning through a second language, we need to first focus and invest our energies in building trustworthy and caring bonds between adults and children.” Eugenia Papadaki “Adults are strong language models for children. Children bond to adults through language. It is important therefore that parents develop and maintain these affective bonds through the constant and consistent use of their mother tongue. Having a strong foundation in and learning to value one’s mother tongue will facilitate and accelerate second language learning.”

Dear visitor,

A warm welcome to our school’s website. Here you will find information on the benefits and learning experiences our Bilingual Programme has to offer.

I thank you for your interest in our Bilingual School and in the innovative model of education we provide for children. The Bilingual model of education and the programme design we offer is based on scientific research and world-wide studies and on an internationally recognised curriculum. Our approach to education does not limit itself to only creating knowledgeable learners, but considers the needs of the whole child. We aim to develop internationally minded life-long learners who through their learning experiences will acquire critical and higher order thinking skills, become effective communicators in two or more languages and develop a flexible mind and approach to life so that they can appreciate, adapt and perform efficiently within a variety of contexts and situations.

Our school aims to provide a learning environment where pupils’ innate curiosity becomes the focus of learning; we strive to transform this innate curiosity into a passion for learning, a passion which will instil itself both during the years of their school life and beyond.
We are committed to providing an education which facilitates the development of every pupil’s strengths and potential.

Research findings on the effects of Bilingual Education have shown that children who learn in a bilingual program will, in both linguistic and academic performance, outperform their monolingual counterparts, provided they have had uninterrupted attendance of a minimum of four to a maximum of seven years in the program. Our school offers this continuity by proposing a school model which caters to ages one to fourteen (i.e. Day Nursery to Middle School).

We take immense pride in the regular feedback we receive on our ex-pupils’ outstanding ability, once they have left our school, to integrate and adjust to different national or international school systems where their levels of performance and preparation seem to match those of excellence.

I will be delighted to respond to questions or to provide further information that you may need.

Thank you

Eugenia Papadaki B.A., M.A., PGCE.
